Soma (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a personalized wellness companion that adapts fitness, nutrition, and habit guidance to your equipment, pantry, and goals. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: your name, email address, and password used to create your Soma account.
- Profile & goals: age, gender, height, weight, fitness level, primary and secondary wellness goals, dietary preferences, allergies, weekly time available, preferred workout days, and reminder settings.
- Equipment inventory: the fitness equipment you own and its details.
- Pantry inventory: the foods you keep on hand, including names, categories, and notes.
- Habits & routines: the habits you track, their completion history, and any routine templates you create.
- Coach conversations: the messages you exchange with the Soma coach, and the summarized memories we retain to keep advice consistent across sessions.
- Referral information: the email addresses of people you invite through the referral program.
- Feedback: any messages you submit through our feedback form.
Information From Integrations
- Google Calendar: if you connect your calendar, we retrieve your upcoming events within your selected planning horizon (7 or 30 days) so Soma can plan workouts, meals, and habits around your real schedule. We access only event data needed for scheduling and do not store your calendar events beyond what is necessary to provide the service.
- Payment information: subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number; Stripe handles payment securely and provides us with limited transaction details needed to manage your subscription.
Information Collected Automatically
We collect basic usage and device information, such as log data and approximate location derived from your IP address, to operate, secure, and improve the service.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and personalize your wellness plans.
- To generate tailored fitness, nutrition, and habit guidance through the Soma coach.
- To plan recommendations around your calendar when you connect Google Calendar.
- To process subscription payments and manage Premium status, including referral-unlocked Premium.
- To send habit reminders and scheduling notifications you have enabled.
- To operate and improve the service, troubleshoot issues, and ensure security.
- To comply with legal obligations.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following categories of service providers:
- Google: when you connect Google Calendar, your calendar data is accessed through Google’s APIs under Google’s terms and privacy policy.
- Stripe: to process subscription payments securely.
- AI providers: to generate coach responses, relevant portions of your context (profile, pantry, equipment, habits, calendar) may be sent to our AI model providers. We avoid sending unnecessary sensitive details.
- Infrastructure providers: hosting and data storage services that help us operate Soma.
We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time from the Profile page, which removes your profile, inventories, habits, routines, coach memories, and referral records. Some residual data may be retained in backups for a limited period or where required by law.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Withdraw consent for data processing, such as disconnecting Google Calendar.
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
Soma is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can delete it.
International Users
If you access Soma from outside the region where it is operated, your information may be transferred to and processed in that region. By using Soma, you consent to such transfers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy in the app or by other means. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
